Why Was the Grading Process Developed?
The SAAHSP Grading Initiative was designed to enhance professionalism, ethical compliance, and service quality across the spa, salon, distributor, and training sectors. Many challenges in the industry—such as therapists working beyond their scope of practice or unqualified trainers—have resulted in inconsistent service delivery.
SAAHSP, as a SAQA-registered Professional Body, ensures that members uphold the highest ethical and professional standards. The grading initiative:

How Does the SAAHSP Grading Process Work?
Bronze Status (FREE for SAAHSP Members)
- Automatically awarded to all SAAHSP members who declare compliance with industry regulations.
- Basic recognition for businesses meeting minimum statutory and regulatory requirements.
Silver Status (R2,850)
- Businesses complete a detailed questionnaire and undergo a validation process.
- Verification of compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Includes certification, auditing, and reporting.
Gold Status (R4,500)
- A comprehensive business review ensuring full compliance with best industry practices.
- In-depth assessment of operational processes, ethical standards, and training policies.
- Recognition as a top-tier industry leader committed to excellence.
SAAHSP School Grading Guidelines
Bronze Grading
- For schools registered with SAAHSP and holding valid accreditation.
- All students must be registered SAAHSP members.
Silver Grading
- Requires Services SETA Accreditation & QAP QCTO Certification.
- All students must be SAAHSP members.
Gold Grading

Schools must hold a CHE Certificate or a Higher Diploma for Educational Facilities.

Require Services SETA/QCTO & Cidesco/Itec certifications (aligned with SA standards).
Platinum Grading (from 2024)
Reserved for schools with over 15 years of SAAHSP membership.
Schools must demonstrate:
- A fully implemented Quality Management System.
- A Complaints & Improvement System.
- A Registered Alumni Group.
All students must be SAAHSP registered members.
